In a move that marks its increasing presence in the healthcare sector, Amazon has expanded its Clinic healthcare platform to cover all 50 US states and Washington DC.
The platform – initially launched in November 2022 – aims to provide virtual medical care for over 30 common health conditions, including migraines, sinus infections, and pink eye.
Unlike traditional healthcare systems, Amazon Clinic does not employ its own physicians. Instead, it acts as a bridge, connecting patients with licensed clinicians from various provider groups, such as Wheel, SteadyMD, Curai Health, and Hello Alpha. This approach ensures a diverse range of healthcare options for users, with specialists available for specific medical concerns.
The recent expansion means that the platform now supports “video visits” across the entire US, while message-based consultations are available in 34 states. Accessible through Amazon’s website and mobile app, the service is available 24/7, providing convenience and flexibility to patients seeking medical advice.
The process of using Amazon Clinic is straightforward. Patients can compare response times and prices from different telehealth provider groups, fill out an intake form, and then select their preferred clinician. Depending on their location, they can then connect with the chosen clinician through messaging or video calls, eliminating the need for traditional appointments and insurance.
Amazon Clinic also offers prescription services. After a consultation with a clinician, a treatment plan is formulated, which may include medication prescriptions. While the platform does not currently accept insurance, patients can use it to help cover the cost of medications prescribed through the service.
Regarding pricing, each third-party telehealth provider sets its own fees for different treatments. Patients can compare prices on Amazon Clinic’s condition page, where messaging-based consultations typically cost around $35 while video visits cost approximately $75 on average.

This expansion of Amazon Clinic is just one of the tech giant’s many initiatives in the healthcare sector. Over the years, Amazon has made several acquisitions and investments in the field, demonstrating its commitment to transforming and revolutionising healthcare.
